A little about: Palladian Architecture
Image Credit: Hans Rocbach Palladian architecture originated from the designs of 16th century Italian architect Andrea Palladio. He based his designs on the principles of symmetry, proportion, and other Roman architecture pieces. Palladian buildings commonly look like temples, with large columns, harmonic order, and pediments all adorning the facade. The Greek and Roman influences are very evident, and Palladian became an impactful style in Europe and colonial America. Only the most wealthy could afford the expensive stone, so it was typically reservered for civic buildings or large mansions. |
