A little about: Wafu Architecture
Image Credit: Dries Buytaert Unique to this list is my personal inclusion of Wafu architecture. Wafu is what one might consider traditional Japanese architecture. Slopped roofs with layered, curved shingles, high walls made with a stone foundation, gated windows, and stucco walls. Wafu emphasizes a harmony with nature and is quite simplistic. Wafu design values craftsmanship, minimalism, and a close connection to nature, often incorporating gardens, verandas, and natural light into the architectural experience. Shinto ideas of tranquility have heavily played into the development of this style. |
