MARCELL

(This photo was drawn in Procreate by me.)

Marcell Pope (true name: Marcello Sedeño) is a 15-year-old boy of an unknown origin. He randomly showed up in VEDANA CITY three years ago without any explanation.

He has brown eyes hidden by blue contacts and brown hair dyed pink at the edges (courtesy of Stacey). He wears the same cap and jersey every day and refuses to take them off. At first, the 83 on his shirt meant nothing, but as I’ve been developing the story’s lore, it now corresponds with the year he was born: 2083.

Nobody really knows a lot about Marcell. It doesn’t seem like he’s willing to share much. If not with his friends, he can be seen wandering around town with his baseball bat with a troubling look in his eyes. On occasions, he can be seen hanging around the temple keeper of VEDANA CITY.

When I first had the dream that inspired this, he was just a specific pre-existing character from another video game. After tweaking his personality and design over a period of time, I don't think that the two characters can be traced back to each other from an outsider perspective. Or at least I hope not.

He's angry. Like, really angry. It might be hard to tell from the cutesy, pixelated walking sprite I have of his character displayed right now, but he's rough around the edges. I feel like I gave him too much lore, and now I have to give all of the other characters an equal amount of lore to make up for it (which might be a good thing in disguise). It's currently hard to say much about him without unpacking his whole story.

He finds refuge in his two friends Stacey and Aria. They seem like an unlikely friend group: two prim and proper girls along with a rowdy, messy boy, but if anything, that just makes their friendship stronger. Opposites attract. While he might seem aloof and cold to the blind eye, when comfortable, he is the greatest yapper who ever lived. I mean, who knew how fun girl talk could be?
