Revolution
Boston even has a professional soccer team in the New England Revolution who are a part of MLS (Major League Soccer). One of the newer professional teams, the Revolution was founded in 1995 and their home stadium is Gillette Stadium with the Patriots. A new stadium is currently in the works since the turf field at Gillette is not good for soccer players to play on. While the team has not won any MLS titles, they have won two trophies that are separate from the MLS title. One is the USL Cup that was won in 2004 when MLS teams and USL teams played in a 32 team bracket. A famous soccer player during that time was Clint Dempsey. In 2021 the Revolution were given the Supporters Shield for having the best record in the MLS. The Revolution's current star player is captain Carles Gil. This team is not as popular as the other teams but they have a very devoted fan base.
