Boston sports teams have been a part of some of the most intense and longest running rivalries. The Boston Celtics and LA Lakers of the 80s were driven by championship finals, east vs west, and produce some of the best basketball that has ever been played. The Boston Bruins and Montreal Canadians have a long standing rivalry built on different playing styles, multiple appearances against each other and US vs. Canada border battle. One of the most fierce of them all is the Red Sox vs. the New York Yankees. Two oldest franchises that are in the same division and play each other multiple times. The trade of the late Babe Ruth was the cause of the curse that saw the Red Sox lose and the Yankees win multiple World Series. The Red Sox finally broke the curse in 2004 and when came back down 3-0 to beat the Yankees and go on to win the World Series.
