char siu, originally from Guangdong, China, is a traditional Cantonese dish common in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau. [1] The traditional char siu is pork cooked with a fork over a fire. In recent years, it is also popular to use a small family oven or light wave oven to roast barbecued pork. The effect is equivalent to that of traditional preparation.
