Rules of Golf

Golf has many rules, designed to keep the game fair and well organized. Players must play the ball as it lies unless a rule allows relief from hazards or obstacles. Each hole starts with a tee shot, and continues until the ball is in the hole. Penalty strokes can be added for mistakes such as hitting the ball out of bounds or into the water. Players are also expected to follow golf etiquette, including staying quiet during players's swings, repairing holes or chunks on the course, and showing respect for all the other players. Honesty is most important in golf, because players are responsible for keeping their own accurate scores.
