History of Golf

Golf is believed to have been created in Scotland during around the15th century, where players whacked stones toward targets across open grassy fields. Centuries later, the modern version of the game developed on sandy coastal lands called “links”, and the first official set of rules were drafted in the 1700s. As time passed, the game of golf spread throughout Europe and eventually to the United States, as well as other parts of the world. The sport naturally became more organized with the creation of high tech clubs, prestigious tournaments, and competitive professional tours. Today, golf is played on an international level, and has become one of the world’s most respected sports.
