Worlds

In the Super Mario Universe, worlds are groups of levels with distinct terrains. Each game in the Super Mario series has its own set of worlds, ranging from the Space Zone in 6 Golden Coins to the Soda Jungle and Layer-Cake Desert in the 2012 New Super Mario Bros. U. Worlds can be regions, planets, or galaxies. In earlier games, worlds were usually numbered (World 1, World 2, World 3, etc.), but now most worlds in the Super Mario Universe have unique titles and some even stand alone as individual levels. A few later games have continued using the traditional numbered world names.
