The Super Mario Bros. Movie became an instant success when it hit theaters in 2023, raking in a gross profit of over one billion dollars and earning itself the title of highest-grossing animated video game film adaptation ever. Produced by Nintendo, Universal Pictures and Illumination and co-produced by Shigeru Miyamoto and Chris Melendari, the plotline follows Italian brothers Mario (Chris Pratt) and Luigi (Charlie Day), who are two plumbers trying to make a living in New York City. While trying to fix the city's main water line, the brothers fall down a pipe and find themselves in an alternate universe. Mario ends up in the Mushroom Kingdom and Luigi is sent to the Dark Lands, where Bowser is making plans to take over the world. Mario and Peach embark on an epic journey to save Luigi and the Mushroom Kingdom from Bowser's wrath.
