Mayan (Tzolk'in)

The Tzolk'in calendar is based on a 20 day cycle, with each day having a separate name and cultural significance and glyph. This 20 day cycle is complemented by another 13 number cycle, leading to 260 distinct days. The Tzolk'in calendar is still utilized in contemporary communities in the Guatemalan highlands among mayans. The calendar is focused on harmony and has a new wave movement based on it with the invention of the Dreamspell Calendar. The mayan family of calendars has led to the 2012 phenomenon which predicted the end of the world on December 21, 2012 due to the end of a 5125 year cycle.
