JulianThe Julian calendar originated as a calendar containing 365.25 days, to match the sun. The Julian calendar was put into place by Julius Caesar in 46 BC and lasted until its replacement by the Gregorian calendar in 1582. The calendar is still widely used among orthodox churches and is still used to calculate orthodox easter and other holidays.
