Igbo

The Igbo calendar uses a unique structure of 4 day weeks, with 7 weeks in a month, and 13 months in the year, with one more day in the last month to total 365 days. The calendar was developed for both cultural and spiritual reasons as well as commercial reasons. Each day has its own flea market in Igboland culture. The calendar is still used today in Nigeria and other west African countries.
