Algebra 1

Class Description

Algebra is the language of mathematics. This course begins with a review of order of operations with rational numbers, solving equations, and working with variables, introduced in the eighth grade. These skills are then extended to working with formulas, graphing equations, and restating word problems as equations. Operations with algebraic expressions, factoring, polynomials, and solving quadratic equations by factoring are also investigated. Considerable time is given to developing and practicing the algebra skills that are learned through the development of mathematical reasoning and communication skills .
