One of Canada's most famous dish is called a barely stew. A barley stew usually consists of carrots, peas, corn, and are immersed in a pot of water with barley. It is high in fiber, especially beta-glucan, which may reduce cholesterol and blood sugar levels. The purpose of barley in a soup is to bulk out the soup, and add a bit of flavor and texture.Barley soup was originaly from Scotland and is now very popular in Canada.
