Mars

Mars is the fourth planet from the Sun and is often called the Red Planet due to its reddish appearance caused by iron oxide or rust on its surface. It has a diameter of about 6,779 kilometers and a day on Mars is similar to Earth's, lasting approximately 24 hours and 39 minutes, while one year on Mars is equal to about 687 Earth days. Mars has a thin atmosphere mostly composed of carbon dioxide, and its surface is characterized by vast plains, towering volcanoes, deep canyons, and impact craters. Mars has two small moons, Phobos and Deimos. Mars has been of great interest to astronomers, and many missions have been sent to study the planet's geology, atmosphere, and potential for life.
