Venus

Venus is the second planet from the Sun and is often referred to as Earth's sister planet due to its similar size, mass, and composition. It has a diameter of about 12,104 kilometers and a day on Venus is longer than its year, with one day equaling about 243 Earth days and one year equaling about 225 Earth days. Venus has a thick, toxic atmosphere composed mostly of carbon dioxide with clouds of sulfuric acid, which traps heat and causes a runaway greenhouse effect that makes Venus the hottest planet in the solar system with surface temperatures reaching up to 471 degrees Celsius. Venus has a surface that is covered in vast plains, mountains, and many impact craters, and has been visited by several spacecraft, providing information about its geology and atmosphere.
