Roanoke is a city in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Southwest Virgina.
Roanoke is known for the Roanoke Star, which is a 88.5 ft tall illuminated star that sits upon a mountain within city limits. This the origin of the nickanme "The Star City of The South".
