Human languages
Languages are structured forms of communication. While contemporary rules governing languages might differ from neolithic speech, both still work to communicate information. Communication through language is done through the creation of sounds -- also known as phonics. Aside from verbal speech, languages can be recorded and written/drawn via writing system. The recording of language has been a relatively new technology for humanity.
