Petrov Defense: Damiano variation
The lesser-known variation of the Petrov's defense for black due to it giving white an edge of +0.5 according to stockfish 18 (depth 36). This opening is a secret weapon that many people do not know about. Here are some reasons why I love it so much: 1. It trades the queens early(great for people who love endgames... like me!) 2. not a lot of theory (~300 lines) 3. Super easy to equalize as black since white is unfamiliar with the Damiano variation due to its rarity of being played. 4. High draw rate 5. I am so confident with this opening that I believe I could draw a 2600 Grandmaster in this opening!! In one sentence, it's just super difficult for white to create any sort of dynamic play/opening advantage, since so many pieces get traded off quickly. There are 0 cons to this opening, highly recommend at all levels. (Don't play this if you don't like boring chess...)
