Hiphop emerged in the South Bronx, New York during the 1970s. On August 11th DJ Kool Herc, a building resident, was entertaining at his sister's back-to-school party, and tried something new on the turntable. 'Rappers Delight' by the Sugarhill Gang is said to be the first hip hop album on proper vinyl.
